Mr. Speaker, I am very proud to be back from Vancouver where our government made a deal with the BC Conservatives and the city government to ensure that TransLink gets the funding they need to keep transit operational. I am proud to have given our pledged CMOF money first to our third-largest city, and the largest city West of the Great Leaks. The Conservatives like to claim that we aren't investing in transit other than our high-speed rail plan, but the reality is that we are investing historic amounts in transit- it's just public transit, not the road and car transit their rich donors insist they advocate for. We are investing in clean, green public transportation operating funding so that your local bus route comes on time, every time. That's real progress for Canadians, that's the world we long to see.

Mr. Speaker, With a $306 million dollar investment from the federal government, the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority will not have to worry about budgetary shortfalls. As of a few days ago, TransLink will now have the resources to ensure for next year reliable service day in and day out. The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, & Communities listened to the calls of British Columbians and workers, and boy did he answer; and British Columbians are thankful across the Metro Vancouver Region. TransLink will effectively be able to operate within Vancouver and the Islands and Fraser-Columbia and the North. That means 145 and the NightBus is saved, SkyTrain and SeaBus services will be maintained. HandyDart can operate; local government funding will continue to occur on road maintenance and local infrastructure, and low and behold, the West Coast Express is saved! The WCE is a key link for the Fraser Valley to Vancouver, and the Local Government Funding Program is a key piece of the puzzle in ensuring our roadways are drivable and maintained; the Government as called for in my Letter to the Editor: In Support of the Minister, has answered the calls for more funding within British Columbia. Thank you to Minister TrickBar for making this happen right here in my backyard; thank you to John Rustad for committing vital funds to a vital network. Those of us here understand what it means to work together to get the job done. With this team on your side, you can count on the Government to ensure that deals get done for you, no matter the political stripes you follow or adhere to.

Mr. Speaker, I’d like to talk about some of the hardest working people in Canada I know: our sanitation workers. While some of us, unfortunately so, may look down upon such a profession, without their hard work society would truly not be the same. While our infrastructure has indeed been suffering, our sanitation workers have still worked strong and deserve all the credit and praise for their work. For all the young folks at home listening, this is a career path that’s very worth of considering. The pay is good and with hard work you can make it places. Mr. Speaker, I’d like to thank the working class of Canada for their support, and I’m going to spend each future members statement highlighting another segment of them. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Mr. Speaker, I'd like to take a moment for thanking the hard workers in the fishing industry that I am honored to represent in Parliament. The fishing industry is an important backbone of Atlantic Canada's economy and the women and men who take to the seas on a regular basis to provide a valuable source of food to Canadians deserve recognition for their hard work. I am proud of the work that MP Zetix and myself have done to help improve upon their livelihoods and ensure a strong recovery to an industry that has struggled over the last few decades.
